Completion of Installation of 4000 Smart Meters of Farab Co. with Perfectly Iranian Equipment and Software
Using perfectly Iranian equipment and software, the pilot operation of installation of 4000 smart meters of Farab co. is successfully completed in Zanjan and Boushehr provinces.
According to Public Relations of Farab co., engineer “Saeed Ghanbari”, Farab’s deputy director and smart metering project manager declared the news and stated that: in line with resistive economy policies of Islamic Republic of Iran, Farab co. managed to install more than 4000 smart meters and operate both of its pilot contracts of smart ultra-systems projects for energy measurement and management (FAHAM), in Zanjan and Boushehr provinces, using perfectly domestic equipment and software.
Ghanbari added that: for the first time in the country, the required central system software was totally domestic and developed by Farab expert engineers. Meters installed in Zanjan and Boushehr were the first fully domestic smart meters of our country, produced by Afzar Azma Electronic Co., which were applicable to Farab’s integrated system of smart measurement.
Iran´s Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Visits Tana H.P.P in Kenya
Minister of industry mine and trade of Islamic Republic of Iran, in his trip to Kenya, visited “Tana Hydro Power Plant” which has been constructed by Farab co. in this country.
According to Public Relations of Farab co., on July 17, 2016, engineer “Mohammad Reza Nemat Zadeh”, minister of industry, mine and trade, who headed a delegation of Iranian businessmen and traders to attend the fourteenth conference of the "UNCTAD" (The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development), visited Tana Hydro Power Plant with coordination and invitation of Farab, during his trip to Kenya.
During this visit, while expressing his appreciation of Farab efforts in Kenya, Mr.Nemat Zadeh declared that the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran supports Farab co. and other Iranian companies to get more projects outside Iran.
In this report it is also mentioned that: Farab co. was construction contractor of "25 MW Tana Hydro Power Plant" which is located at 85 km northeast of Nairobi, Kenya capital.
Kenya is regarded as the most strategic East African country. In addition to Tana power plant project, Farab co. has completed its second project in this country, “Kindaruma Civil Work and Hydromechanic Power Station”, and delivered to the client in 2013.
Successful and principle-based implementation of these projects as well as high technical and engineering capabilities of Farab co. made it the winner of the competition with well-known international contractors in the tender of “Terem Hydro Power Plant” construction project. Operational works of this 5 MW power plant, which is the third project of Farab co. in Kenya, were launched in the winter of 2014.
Seyyed Hassan Khomeini Visits Uma Oya Multi-purpose Project in Sri Lanka
Precious memento of Imam, accompanied by the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Sri Lanka, visited "Uma Oya" dam and Hydro Power Plant project which is under construction by Iranian engineers in this country.
According to Public Relations of Farab co., at the end of the visit, among engineers and employees of the project, Hojjat al-Eslam val Muslemin Seyyed Hassan Khomeini said: we pride ourselves seeing that Iranian engineers are doing a great job in a relatively distant country. I congratulate to each and every one of the dear engineers and appreciate their efforts.
He added that: being an ornament for religion, creed, and Ahl al-Bayt (AS) may have various forms; but that our technological, scientific and management potentials are doing a great job, which is one of the largest of its kind in the history of Iranian engineering work outside the country, is an ornament which is regarded as an act according to the order of Imams; so, do it with good and pure intentions and encourage your friends to do such works for the good and honor of our beloved country and holy religion.
Precious memento of Imam, addressed Uma Oya project engineers and staff and said: today, on this side of the Indian subcontinent, Iranians are doing something that big companies do; so, pride yourselves for the honor that you brought for our country with your great work.
While expressing his hope in that the project is the onset of presence of Iranian engineers and capable human resources in other parts of the world, he stated that: of course, there have also been some problems in this way, brought about by oppressive sanctions, try to move on with good pace and quality for the customer satisfaction so that Farab and other Iranian companies would take great technical and engineering projects in other countries in future.
In the end of, he expressed great pleasure of visiting this project and hoped that Uma Oya dam and Hydro Power Plant project be completed on schedule.
In this report, it is also mentioned that: the Uma Oya multi-purpose project is being implemented by Farab co. in Sri Lanka.
The project consists of two concrete gravity dams, 27 km long tunnel, a 120 Mw underground plant, switch yard, high voltage transmission line with a length of 23 km, and several vertical shafts with a total length of 845 meters.
The First Series of Rail Fleet Enters Depot of Mashhad Urban Railway, Line 2
15 wagons of Mashhad Urban Railway, line 2, officially arrived in the city, on Wednesday, June 15th, in a ceremony attended by Mashhad mayor, President of the City Council, and Managing Director of Mashhad Urban Railway.
According to Public Relations of Farab co., Engineer “Mohsen Ram”, executive of Mashhad Urban Railway project, Line 2, announced the new while adding that: the wagons transferred by ship from Dalian Port in China to Shahid Rajaei Port in Bandar Abbas and, for the first time, complete transportation of subway wagons from Shahid Rajaei Port to Rezaieh station port (Mashhad) carried out in less than three days using the capacity of railways of Islamic Republic of Iran.
Ram continued that: the wagons were then transferred from this station to Mashhad d depot through road transportation and using articulated trucks.
Executive of Mashhad Urban Railway project, Line 2, stated that: these wagons that are transferred to Mashhad to be used in phase 1 of Mashhad Urban Railway, line 2, will be used after finishing railroad construction and installing other required equipment, including power supply.
He also said that: with 13 stations in a 14.5 Km way, Mashhad Urban Railway, Line 2, starts from North Tabarsi, passes through Shohada SQ, Shariati SQ, and ends in Javan SQ in Piroozi Blvd.
It is worth mentioning that a total of 100 wagons/20 trains are considered for this line and the remaining 85 wagons are in the body manufacturing phase to transfer unassembled equipment (PLB) to the country for final assembly in Tehran Wagon Manufacturing Factory.
Farab Co. is contractor of the fleet of Mashhad Urban Railway Project, Line 2, who supplies and installs mechanical and electrical equipment.
Shahr-e Aftab Metro Line and Station Was Inaugurated in The Presence of Tehran Mayor
Shahr-e Aftab metro line and station, the first railway project implemented by Farab co., was inaugurated on Monday April 18 in the presence of Tehran Mayor, Deputy Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Members of the Tehran City Council.
According to Public Relations of Farab co., Dr. »Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf«, Tehran Mayor, while saying that the railway is 6 Km rout from Shahed station to Shahr-e Aftab, added that: the distance seems not to be significance at first; since the metro workers and their supervisors are digging more than 700 m tunnel on a weekly basis. However, there are regions in our country that has been working on a metro line for over 10 years, but still they have not been able to operate 6 Km of it.
By mentioning that 6 Km is a small distance, but to be fair, today, an important and effective measure is taking place, continued that: Shahr-e Aftab project has been in standby status for a long time so we had to place it on the agenda.
While saying that line 6 and 7 are about 70 Km long, Sun City to Imam Airport is 32 Km, and the whole Tehran Subway project is going to be finished with 300 Km, Tehran Mayor stated that: the greatest and the most intensive development work, at the worst financial situation, will be achieved in the next 15 months.
In this report it is also included that engineer »Mehran Lotfi«, directing manager of Farab co., added to congratulating inauguration of the international exhibition Shahr-e Aftab Metro Station, the first railway project implemented by Farab co., expressed his hope: not a long a way is remained until when Farab co. becomes »the greatest contractor of EPC railway projects of the country«.
According to this report, Farab co. has become the contractor of supplying and installing mechanical and electrical equipment of Tehran Metro Line 1 South development project, between Shahed and New Parand Town stations.
The First Vice President and Minister of Energy Visit Darian Dam and Power Plant
The First Vice President accompanied by the Minister of Energy and Kermanshah Mayor visited Darian dam and power plant in Paveh.
According to Public Relations of farab co., Managing Director of Iran Water Resources Management, Managing Director of Iran Water and Power Resources Development co., and Managing Director of Farab co., were present in this visit on Monday April 18.
Dr. »Eshagh Jahangiri« visited Darian plant building, overflow, reservoir, dam, and instrumentation equipment of the plan, as well.
After the visit, The First Vice President went to the place of new symbol of »Bell Spring« and some description for the environmental project was given by engineer »Mahmood Moshiri«, the project manager of IWPCO.
According to this report, Darian Dam is of gravel type with clay core with 179 m height, 159 m height from the bottom of the river, 839 dam crest level, 368 m crest length, 15 m crest width, 870 m foundation width, 338 million cubic meter total reservoir volume.
The dam has a hydro power plant with a capacity of 210 MW (including three units of 70 MW) that will be built by Farab co.
Addition of Long Range Narrowband Radio Infrastructure to Farab’s Smart Metering System
For the first time in the country, Farab Co. managed to add a specialized Long Range Narrowband Radio infrastructure to its Smart Metering System (FarAMI) and launch it in the entire system as a test run.
According to Public Relations of Farab Co., engineer »Behrouz Hajian«, director of smart meters project engineering section of Farab Co., published this report and added that: this was the first phase of producing RF communication modules for Faham’s smart meters (smart ultra-systems of power measurement and management) which was implemented for the first time in the country through Farab Co.
While stating that smart meters project employer has selected the existing infrastructure of mobile communication (GPRS platform) and Power Line Communication (PLC) for equipment’s telecommunication with central system, Hajian said that: Since GPRS infrastructure – which has already been operated and it is now being used in the first phase of Bushehr and Zanjan pilot projects - was very costly in Iran, on the other hand, PLC platforms are not reliable in the current situation of electricity network distribution of the country, thus, alongside the development of communication modules based on the employer considered platforms (PLC and GPRS), like other developed countries, radio communication through RF modules is selected as an alternative by Farab and followed by software and engineering group of the company.
Director of smart meters project engineering section of Farab continued by saying that: after reviewing almost all of the main technologies available in the market, due to the similarity of the radio regulations of Iran and Europe, we selected one of the recent technologies used in Europe since the beginning of year 1394 Hijri and performed preliminary quality tests in our country.
He then stated that: this technology is based on narrow band telecommunication and allows making long rang communication without violating strict radio regulations of free industrial bands by benefiting from modern techniques.
Hajian continued that: the main difficulty of using this technology lies in its dependent network control software system. Because, its application necessitates installing certain software systems on central servers, because of being a new technology, for which there are limited options in the world.
He expressed that: accordingly, with regard to the current political restrictions, in order to localize the product and significantly reduce the costs, after studying the details of communication protocols related to this technology, and having experienced a similar structure production, much more complicated of course, in first edition of the central system software of Faham’s smart meters in Farab – which is now being operated in Bushehr and Zanjan – we started domestic development of the software by software and engineering group of Farab Co.
Director of smart meters project engineering section of Farab continued that: the last February, having begun with sample components of the system including a Base Station and three sample modems, we developed initial parts of the central system software. With hard work of our colleagues, on Wednesday, April 6, (2016) first part of the radio infrastructure, developed by the central system software in Farab Co., was successfully tested.
He also added that: after being finalized, this product would be internationally available, along with few other options, to the world. And we may say that it would be one the first products based on this technology dedicated to measurement of electrical networks.
As a concluding remark, he noted that: France and South Korea are among the countries that started thinking about using this technology in measurement networks at a national level.
Seymareh Dam and Hydro Power Plant Inaugurated in the Presence of the First Vice-president
Seymareh dam and Hydro Power Plant, located in Ilam, was officially exploited in the presence of the first vice-president, Minister of Energy, Ilam Governor, and a number of official members of state, on 10 March, 2016.
According to Public Relations of Farab Co. in exploitation event of Seymareh dam and Hydro Power Plant noted that Iranian engineers, contractors, and companies are the real assets of this country and Iran is growing with this assets.
Considering Seymareh dam and power plant as a proof of resilient economy and engineering potential of the country, Dr. Eshagh Jahangiri added that: Seymareh dam and Hydro Power Plant is a great asset for the country and may help local economic and agricultural prosperity.
The first vice-president continued by referring to Iranian engineers, contractors, and companies are the real assets of this country and stated that: those who say that oil is the only capital of Iran are making a mistake. Iranian contractors and engineers who do such big works are the unique capital of the country so if we fail protecting them and they suffer from damages, it would be subsumed as a high treason, indeed.
While referring to potentials of Iranian engineers and contractors, he said that: most of these companies make it out in tenders of international projects despite the presence of international competitors and own the projects and we have to support them so as to help them succeed in their plan.
Then, the first vice-president referred to Seymareh Hydro Power Plant as a great achievement and stated that: we should appreciate all those involved in construction of this honorable project.
Minister of Power: The result of Seymareh Project for Ilam is Economic prosperity
In inaugurating event of Seymareh dam and Hydro Power Plant, the Minister of Power considered this national project very valuable which brings economic prosperity to the region.
Engineer Hamid Chitchian added that: despite sanctions Seymareh dam and Hydro Power Plant launched with its full potentials by domestic experts.
Having noted that during sanctions Iranian engineers did not let any problem occur to Seymareh dam and Hydro Power Plant project and that engineering equipment of the dam and Hydro Power Plant is designed and constructed by domestic professionals, Chitchian mentioned that: this led to maturity and added to scientific potentials of the country and helped a great deal in localizing power plant equipment.
Seymareh Dam and Hydro Power Plant, One of the Main Country's Hydroelectric Projects
The report includes: Seymareh dam and Hydro Power Plant is one of the main country's hydroelectric projects which cost one thousand and 330 milliard Tomans. A double-arch concrete Seymareh dam with 180 m height has storage capacity 2 milliards and 800 million m3 and so far one milliard and 500 million m3water is stored in it.
The Hydro Power Plant contains three 160 Mw units with total capacity of 480 Mw which will generate 684 GB electricity per year after being launched.
Farab Co. is the contractor in charge of Hydro Power Plant plan, supply, and equipment installation.
Minister of Energy: Ministry of Energy Will Continue Supportting Uma Oya Project
In the visit of multipurpose »Uma Oya« project, in Sri Lanka, the Minister of Energy announced that Ministry of Energy will continue supporting this project.
According to Public Relations of Farab co., in a meeting with Uma Oya multipurpose project executives and involved parties, engineer »Hamid Chitchian«, while expressed his satisfaction with participating in the workshop of this project and meeting with the executives, maintained that: it is contenting to see the project progress is going on well.
The Minister of Energy mentioned: implementing such a big project in Sri Lanka with Iranian experts is an honor for the Ministry of Energy and we hope that with great attempts of the executives parties, the project be operational in near future.
Chitchian also noted that the Ministry of Energy of the Islamic Republic of Iran will continue supporting this project: although we had ups and downs in going through this project due to oppressive sanctions that had been imposed on our country and some complexities of the project, fortunately, we managed to continue and we are progressing well.
He referred to Uma Oya project as a noted sign of friendship and worthy relations between the two nations, Iran and Sri Lanka: Iranian government has always supported exporting technical and engineering services of Iranian companies so Ministries of Energy and Foreign Affairs as well as Iranian banks are supporting this project.
Ministry of Energy continued by giving out particular focus of Ministry of Energy on project: we have had several meetings with managing director of Farab co. in Tehran on this project. What I expect from this company is to expedite its implementation progress and end it up as soon as possible considering certain geological and environmental difficulties of the project.
Following this report, Chitchian appreciated the support of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Export Development Bank of Iran, and Export Guarantee Fund of Iran from Uma Oya project and thanked involved parties, Farab co., as the main contractor, in particular.
In this report it is also mentioned that: Engineer "Hamid Chitchian” headed a group of experts, including private sector investors and public administrators, in a travel Sri Lanka. As his first plan in this country, on March 23rd, together with the managing director of Farab co. he visited the multipurpose Uma Oya project, including two RCC dams, water transfer tunnels with a length of 23 km, underground power plant (120 MW), switch yard, and transmission line with a length of 22 km. He was posted with the most recent status of the project through explanations given by managing director of Farab co., Uma Oya project manager in Farab co., and executive director of the workshop.
During this visit, Dr. “Sunil da Silva”, Sri Lankan project manager from Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment, and Ms. “Sandhya Vijay Bandra”, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Sri Lanka, were also present.
Temporary delivery of Bandar Abbas Gas Condensate Refinery Project Units
A number of utility and process units of Bandar Abbas Gas Condensate Refinery Project (Persian Gulf Star) was temporarily delivered to launch and operation team of the project employer.
According to Public Relations of Farab co., engineer “Mohammad Ali Khodadadi”, executive manager of Bandar Abbas Gas Condensate Refinery, announced this report while adding that: with the efforts of the working project team, so far, after pre-launch phase, 11 units of utility and process units are temporarily delivered to launch and operation team of the project employer.
To explain more details of the units, Mr.Khodadadi added that: unit 11 (Nitrogen generation, unit 24 (service and instrumentation air production), unit 22 (desalination), unit 22 (fire station water pumping), unit 22 (rotating equipment water production), power posts 01-21, 03-21, 01-08, 01-11, 0101, and control room 02-40, are the units delivered to launch and operation team of the project employer.
In this report, it is also noted that: Farab co.is the contractor of utility and process units of Bandar Abbas Gas Condensate Refinery Project (Persian Gulf Star).
Training session of Faham Software, Developed by Farab Co. Held in Bushehr
A session of training basic concepts of Faham software (smart mega system and energy management) as well as MDM software (Meter Data Management) was held in Bushehr Power Distribution Company for the managers and experts of this company.
According to Public Relations of Farab co., Engineer ‘Saeed Ghanbari’, project manager for smart meters projects, announced this news and declared that: in the first training session, smart meter project engineering experts defined basic concepts and architecture of Faham system and its information exchange method for the participants with reference to documentation of related authorities.
Ghanbari added that: at the end of the first day of training, representatives of software development unit of Farab co. depicted an overview of its’ MDM software system.
He continued that: the software features and properties were explained in detail in the second training session and the participants questions were covered in an interactive session.
Ghanbari also said that: despite existing complications, Farab co. was managed to develop a fully localized software for smart meters based on the potentials of its experts. At the very beginning, MDM (Meter Data Management) software was used for controlling mounted meters in Bushehr, and after receiving tailored feedback, it was made fully operational.
The report says that: MDM software is responsible for collecting data from smart meters and sending commands to connected meters. As a component of Fahams’s central system, the software provides the operator of power distribution company with detailed information of subscribers and the network status in order to make required decisions and apply them to the meters.
Temporary Delivery of 3rd Unit of Seymareh HPP to Client
The 3rd unit of Seymareh Hydro Powerplant was temporarily delivered to the client.
According to Public Relations of Farab co. trial period of the first Seymareh Hydro Powerplant unit (3rd unit) operation was successfully finished on January 29, and the unit was temporarily delivered to the main client of the project (Iran Water and Power Resources Development Company).
Seymareh Hydro Powerplant has three 160-MW units located 30 km from the city of Darreh Shahr in Ilam.
Farab Presence at South Asia Power Congress 2015 in Sri Lanka
South Asia Power Congress and Expo 2015, with participation of more than 150 exhibitors, was held to promote power development among countries of South Asia including Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
According to Public Relations of Farab Co., engineer «Seyed Abdolhossein Famoorzadeh», engineering deputy, announced this report and said: “influential presence of Farab Co. in side exhibition of South Asia Power Congress, added to stabilizing its position as the main contractor of Omaoya multipurpose project - the largest project of Sri Lanka in energy sector – was of great significance because it was regarded as an opportunity to introduce Farab’s potential and to promote its’ various power plant and energy management projects”.
Famoorzadeh added that: “South Asian energy market is regarded as one of the most original hydropower markets in the world with more than 100000 Mw economically approved and reasonable study plans”.
He also mentioned that Farab’s pavilion was attended by Chief executive and other CEB officials, Sri Lanka Electricity Company, as well as senior officials of Investment Company of Sri Lanka and said that: “special demonstration of central software of Farab’s local smart meter in Faham project, which is running now, and presentation of capabilities and potentials of this company in managing and implementing smart power, welcomed by visitors in this exhibition”.
Then, engineering deputy of Farab co. asserted that: “Farab’s pavilion in this exhibition hosted several business meetings so as to discuss development of future cooperation with state officials and agencies of Nepal and Pakistan”.
In this report it is also noted that: “South Asia Power Congress and Expo 2015 was held from from 1-3 December in Colombo, Sri Lanka. ”
47% Reduction in Water Consumption of ShirKooh Yazd Combined Cycle Power Plant
Recycling ShirKooh Yazd Combined Cycle Power Plant’s wastewater reduced 47% of the plant’s raw water consumption.
According Public Relations of Farab Co., Engineer «Mehdi Golafshan», Manager of ShirKooh Yazd Combined Cycle Power Plant, announced the report and said that after reviewing, analyzing, and designing two recycling pool, Farab managed to restore the plant’s wastewater that was poured into evaporation ponds based on an initial plan, to consumption cycle.
Golafshan added: using wastewater management techniques in the plant we managed to reduce the amount raw water consumption from 23000 m3 to 14000 m3 in July 2015 while 10000 m3 is practically restored to consumption cycle of power plant through recycling; a measure which reduced 47% of raw water consumption of the plant.
He also said: ShirKooh Power Plant is located in arid and desert region of Yazd and since efficient water use in this country, rather than neighboring countries, is of great significance, in order to preserve valuable water resources, Farab has placed recycling sanitary and industrial wastewater on its agenda.
With regard to implemented wastewater recycling plans, he mentioned that: aimed at recycling wastewater and restoring them to water treatment plant to produce distilled water, blow down water of boilers, drained water of condenser vacuum breaker, and drained water of plant sampling systems are recycled.
Golafshan continued that: In order to be able to use wastewater for irrigating green spaces, wastewater produced in sand filters backwashing, sanitary wastewater of power plant, and condensed water produced from steam systems of heating liquid fuel tanks are recycled.
In this report it is also mentioned that: ShirKooh Yazd Combined Cycle Power Plant – with 484 MW capacity- belongs to Farab Co. and is the first combined cycle power plant established so far in private sector.
Implementation of the first stage of the Faham project
The implementation of the first stage of Faham project (Smart Energy Metering and management of Super-system) started in the presence of Deputy Minister of Energy, the Vice Energy Minister for electricity and energy, CEO of Tavanir Co., and a group of senior managers of electricity industry of the country.
According to the Farab Co. Public Relations department, on the sideline of the ceremony which was hosted by Iran Energy Efficiency Organization (IEEO) (SABA), on Monday 7 September 2015, inside the headquarters building of the Ministry of Energy, an fair was held with the participation of 10 consultants and contractor companies active in the Faham project such as Farab Co. in order to demonstrate the achievements, capacities, and capabilities developed in this field.
In this fair Farab booth was visited by Vice Energy Minister for electricity and energy, CEO of Tavanir Co., Deputies and CEO of IEEO (SABA) and a group of other senior managers of the electricity industry of the country. During each visit necessary descriptions were provided for by Engineer Saeed Ghanbari (director of the smart energy metering project) and Engineer Behrouz Hajiannejad (Chief engineer of the smart energy metering project).
It is also reported that Farab booth was a manifestation of single-phase and three-phase direct connection, CT and CT/PT (able to support telecom units such as G3-PLC, GPRS and PRIME-PLC without the need for replacement or resetting the configurations of the meter), and the central system software with data concentrator which are designed and used in Farab projects in Bushehr and Zanjan provinces.
Beginning the official operation of four units of Siah-Bishe pumped storage power plant in the presence of the first Vice-President
on Tuesday 1 September, ceremony of official operation of four units of Siah-Bishe pumped storage power plant was held in the presence of the first vice-president and Minister of Energy.
According to the Farab Co. Public Relations department, the pumped storage power plant of Siah-Bishe is the first power plant in Iran. This power plant has includes 4 units.The first unit of which was connected to the network in generator mode in the spring of 2013. Over the last two years, the other three units, having passed pre-launch tests successfully, were synchronized with the network one by one to be operating both in pump and turbine modes.
In the ceremony, the first Vice-President stated that "The pumped storage power plant of Siah-Bishe is an exceptional and unique project that its successful implementation will bring rejoice to the hearts of our Supreme Leader, people of Iran and all Muslims across the world."
Dr. Es'hagh Jahangiri, after expressing his gratitude to those involved in the project, said, "The culmination of this project was a huge step forward that is made possible only by the will of Iran."
He added that "successful implementation of Siah-Bishe pumped storage power plant project is a great, important and honorable achievement and implementation of such projects increases the morale of Muslim nations."
Also, at the ceremony, the Minister of Energy stated that "this power plant is one of the great achievements of the electricity industry of Iran, four units of which has became fully operational today."
Engineer Hamid Chitchian added that "thanks God that day and night efforts of engineers, managers and administrators of this project made it possible for us to witness the full exploitation of it today."
He continued, "In recent years, despite bad weather conditions, heavy rains, and snowfall of several meters, the project implementation continued and eventually the Iranian experts did it by crossing the impassable areas and installing advanced, massive and sensitive power plant equipment."
Minister of Energy added that "The Siah-Bishe power plant is the first plant that is able to connect to the circuit in less than 30 seconds and holding such power station in a place with most energy consumption positively influences power grid load balance and prevents and prevents voltage drop during peak use."
He continued, "Exploitation of this national project is a great achievement and I congratulate this success to our Supreme Leader, to the government, and people of Iran and I'm thankful to all of those who involved in this project.”
Chitchian stated the inclined excavation and the design and installation of the metal coating of the power plant shafts as the most difficult part of the process of implementation of the Siah-Bishe power plant and stated that "as the former CEO of Farab Co. told me, only two companies of the world had the technology required for the installation of metal coating of plant shafts so we asked them to partake in this part of the project. They accepted to come to Iran to accomplish the job while stating that no instructions and information regarding this technology will be given to Iranian engineers."
He continued, "Farab Co. refused their condition; however, by accepting the risks of the job, using the talents and abilities of native engineers, the scientific support of Dr. DurAli and Sharif University of Technology, they managed to design and build a robot for the purpose of this process. Using this robot, the task of installing metal coating of plant shafts. Was performed successfully."
Minister of Energy said that "we learnt that Iranians can accomplish even the most difficult jobs by trust in god and themselves. Thus, the bases of everything has to be founded within the country."
Farab Company is the power plant contractor to design, supply, and install required equipment.
The third unit of Seymareh Hydro Power Plant was synchronized successfully
The third unit of Seymareh Hydro Power Plant in Ilam Province was synchronized on the network successfully.
By report of Public Relations of Farab Co., Sa’eid Poshtan, the executer of Seymareh Hydro Power Plant, said: “In continue of startup operations of Seymareh Hydro Power Plant, its third unit was synchronized at 18:30 Friday June 30”.
Poshtan added: “The 480 MW Seymareh Hydro Power Plant includes three 160 MW units located at 30 km NW of Darrehshahr, Ilam Province over Seymareh River, and was constructed by Farab Co. by mastership of Iran Water and Power Development Co.”
He added: “The first and the second units of Seymareh Hydro Power Plant were synchronized on the first week of June”.
Mechanized excavation of final tunnel of Azad Dam’s water transfer system was started
Concurrent with travel of President and government board to Kurdistan Province, excavation operations of the second water transfer tunnel of Azad Dam were started on Sunday July 26 by video message of President Rowhani.
By report of Public Relations of Farab Co., Eng. Hosseyn Zamani Abyaneh, the executor of the final phase of water transfer tunnel from Azad Dam, said: “One of the goals of Azad Project in Kurdistan is transferring water to the eastern plains of this province and supplying drinking water for Sanandaj, for which Qorveh-Dehgolan Water Transfer System was designed”.
Zamani added: “This system is 83 km and there are seven other points except Sanandaj in the plan for supplying drinking and irrigation water. At its end part, water reaches to Qorveh-Dehgolan Plain. Now 32 km is ready for utilization”.
He continued: “Totally 15 km tunnel will be excavated, and up to now 4 km has been excavated for transferring water to Sanandaj”.
Zamani suggested: “A TBM device was built and moved to the place to excavate the remaining 11 km, which concurrent with utilization of phase one, excavation operations of phase two were started on Sunday July 26 by video message of President Rowhani”.
By a video message from President or Islamic Republic of Iran: Azad Hydro Power Plant was started up
Simultaneous with travel of President and government board to Kurdistan Province, Azad Hydro Power Plant was commissioned on Sunday July 26 by a video conference and by message of Dr. Hassan Rowhani, the president.
By report of Public Relations of Farab Co., this is the first hydro power plant in country which its designing, construction, and installation of turbine and governor were done by Iranian experts internally for the first time.
Eng. Mehran Lotfi, Managing Director of Farab Co., said: “Farab Co. proposed designing and construction of Azad Hydro turbine and governor by support of its experience obtained from the execution of 14 hydros with capacity of more than 10,000 MW inside and outside of country”.
Lotfi added: “Ministry of Power and Iran Water and Power Development Co. are main masters of hydro power plants in country, which approved designing, testing, construction, installation, and commissioning this hydro power plant by Farab Co. and designing, construction, installation and commissioning its governor by Durali Automation and System Design Center of Sharif University of Technology (by management of Farab Co.), and this project was started on March 2012”.
Azad 10 MW hydro is located around Sanandaj City over Kumassi River. This power plant is an on-surface one with capacity of 10 MW (including three 3.3 MW units).
By this report, before commissioning this power plant, after video message of President, Eng. Hamid Chitchian, Minister of Power, together with an expert board, visited Azad dam’s water transfer system and its startup.
Contract for construction of Deraluk 2 dam and hydro power plant was notified to Farab Co.
Contract for construction of Deraluk-2 dam and hydro power plant in Kurdistan, Iraq, was notified to Farab Co. by its master (Ministry of Power of Iraq).
By report of Public Relations of Farab Co., Deraluk 2 Hydro power plant includes two 18.8 MW units of Kaplan type. This is an EPC contract and is financed by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) through a loan-granting agreement.
Farab - Bolandpayeh Group won the bid for selection of contractor for Deraluk 2 Hydro project.
A contract was signed for construction of a hydro power plant Deralouk 2, Kurdistan, Iraq
A contract was signed for construction of a hydro power plant Deralouk 2, Kurdistan, Iraq, between Farab Co. and Ministry of Power of Iraq on June 29, 2015.
By report of Public Relations of Farab Co., this hydro power plant includes 2 18.8 MW Kaplan units.
This is an EPC contract that is financed by JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) through an agreement. The master consultant is ELC Co.
Pre-evaluation documents for this project were offered in 2013 by master. In May of that year, more than 60 contractual companies with 27 participations, including 8 Turkish companies, 6 Iranian companies, 6 Chinese companies, 5 European companies, and 2 Korean and Japanese companies delivered their pre-evaluation documents. The results were announced on August 2013 and finally 13 participations were accepted.
Then, bid documents were offered on September by master, and financial and technical documents for 10 companies were submitted to the master. Finally, on March 2014, financial envelopes for 6 participations which were technically qualified were opened, and the proposed price of Farab Co. was accepted.
This report adds: “Since JICA finances this project, obtaining confirmation of this company took one year, and finally a contract was concluded on 29/6/2015.”

Reconstruction operations of generator of unit 7 of Masjed-Soleyman Extension Power Plant were completed successfully.
By report of Public Relations of Farab Co., following successful reconstruction of generator of unit 7 of Masjed-Soleyman Extension Power Plant, this unit was synchronized on the network on June 25, 2015.
All stages of this project were completed by internal experts, including supply, construction, installation, and commissioning.
Masjed-Soleyman Extension Power Plant includes four 250 MW units and is located in Masjed-Soleyman, Khuzestan Province.
Notification of contract for design, supply, and construction of Andimeshk-3 combined cycle power plant
The contract for designing, supplying, and construction of Andimeshk-3 500 MW combined cycle power plant was notified to Farab Co.
By report of Public Relations of Farab Co., Taraz Peyriz Construction Co. accepted proposal of Farab Co. under support of State Retirement Fund (master of this project).
This contract was notified to Farab Co. on Jan. 27, 2015.
1st and 2nd units of Seymareh power plant were synchronized successfully
1st and 2nd units of Seymareh power plant in Ilam Province were successfully synchronized on the network.
By report of Public Relations of Farab Co.,Saeid Poshtan, executive of this plan said: “1st unit of this power plant was synchronized on Tuesday 15:00, June 23 and the 2nd unit was synchronized on Thursday 15:00, June 25, 2015.”
He added: “480 MW Seymareh Power Plant includes three 160 MW units and is located in 30 km NW of Darrehshahr, Ilam Province over Seymareh River by Farab Co. and its master was Iran Development Water and Power Development Co.”.

Visit of Ambassador of Indonesia from Siahbisheh dam and power plant
Ambassador of Indonesia together with an economic board visited Siahbisheh Dam and its power plant.
By report of Public Relations of Farab Co.,this visit took place on Monday June 22, 2015 accompanied with Deputy of Project Development of Farab Co., and an Indonesian board visited different parts of this dam and pump power plant and became familiar with executive and technical capabilities of Farab Co. as contractor of this project.
Mr. Dian Weringjurith, Ambassador of Indonesia in Iran, suggested his satisfaction for his presence in this exhibition and mentioned valuable the technical-engineering achievement of Iranian companies in dam and hydro power plant construction and requested development of mutual cooperation in this area.

Presence of Farab Co. in the 46th International Exhibition in Algeria
Farab Co. participated in the 46th International Exhibition in Algeria beside more than 1300 companies from 30 countries of the world.
By report of Public Relations of Farab Co., pavilion of Islamic Republic of Iran in this exhibition hosted many Iranian companies that are active in technical and engineering services, energy, and machinery. Farab Co. had a 12 m2 booth and introduced its executive and technical capabilities.
This exhibition was opened by presence of Abdolmalek Salal, Prime Minister of Algeria; Nirmala Sitaraman, Ministry of Industries and Trade of India, and some of directors, authorities, and economic actors of Algeria with the motto “Economic diversity toward stable development”.
Reza Ameri, Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Iran in Algeria, a group of masters of water and waste water projects from ONA and Xider companies and contractors, and many other European and American companies visited booth of Farab Co., which agent of Deputy of Project Development of Farab Co. offered related descriptions.

In a travel to Ilam Province, Minister of Power visited Seymareh Dam and Power Plant site.
By report of Public Relations of Farab Co., Engineer Ali Imaei, Executive Manager of Seymareh project, said: “Minister of Power and Managing Director of Iran Development Water and Power Development Co. and many directors of Ilam Province visited this project on Saturday May 30, 2015”.
Imaei added: “During this visit, after introducing Seymareh project and specification of power plant, some of executive problems were propounded and Minister of Power promised to remove them.”
He said: “Also, Minister of Power ordered necessary directions for financial and business facilities for maximum exploitation of presence of the external supervisor”.

Visit of The First Deputy of President and Minister of Power from Azad water transfer tunnel in Kurdistan
In the trip of 1st Vice President and Minister of Power to Kurdistan Province, they visited Ghocham Dam and Azad water transfer tunnel in east of this province.
According to a report released by the Public Relations Department of FARAB Company, 1st Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri, during his visit on Monday May 25, 2015 said: “Government intends to develop Kurdistan Province and it will do its best endeavor to accomplish this”.
In this visit, Minister of Power, Eng. Hamid Chitchian, emphasized on precise and rapid execution of water projects in this province and said: “Ministry of Power has fulfilled necessary actions for assignment of credits to dam and water supply projects in Kurdistan”.
During this visit, Eng. Hossein Zamani Abyaneh, the executer of final tunnels of water transfer system in Azad Dam, said about specifications of this project: “One of the goals of Azad project in Kurdistan Province is transferring water to Ghorveh-Dehgolan plains and supplying drinking water of Sanandaj, so Gorveh-Dehgolan Water Transfer System was designed”.
He added: “Azad Tunnel project is the final section of Azad project and Gorveh-Dehgolan Water Transfer System”.
Mr. Zamani said about situation of this project: “Gorveh-Dehgolan plain in Ghorveh Town is more than 220,000 ha with 140 villages and 4 towns, and this tunnel is executed from NE of Sanandaj to NW of Dehgolan Town”.
He said: “The main goal of this project is supplying water for agriculture sector, drinking water, industrial water, and downstream gardens and Gheshlag Dam”. About specification of this tunnel he said: “This tunnel will be dug by TBM and EPB methods and its length is 10,840 m”.
The executer of the final tunnel of water transfer system from Azad Dam said: “Final diameter of this tunnel is 3 m, which is covered with pre-made reinforced concrete segments”.
Zamani added: “The master of this project is Iran Water and Power Resources Development Co. and its contractor is Farab-Nimrokh joint. The consultant of this project is Aban Project and Tahkimkav joint”.
He added: “Implementation of this tunnel, as the third water tunnel by Farab Co. can introduce Farab Co. as one of the strong and experienced contractors in digging underground tunnels”.
Iran & Tajikistan Energy Ministers visit from Sangh-Toudeh 2 Dam and Power plant
The Sangtuda 2 Dam and Hydro Power Plant located in Khatlon Province, Tajikistan Rebuplic was the host of Engineer "Hamid Chitchian" Minister of Energy of I.R.Iran and Mr. "Usmanali Usmanov" Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan Rebuplic.
According to Farab's Co. public relations, on Monday September 1st 2014, I.R.Iran's Minister of Energy and his Tajik peer, visited the final stages of 220 Mw Sangtuda 2 Dam and Hydro Power plant Project, which will formally get in to operation next week and with presence of presidents of both countries. Also in all stages the necessary information was presented by project's involved team.
Iranian delegates attended this event comprised of a group of I.R.Iran Ministry of Energy's consultants and managers and also Iranian parliament head of the Water, Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee.
This report adds: Operation of first phase of Sangtuda 2 Hydro Power Plant with the capacity of 110 Mw took place in September 2011 simultaneously with the twentieth anniversary of Tajikistan's Independence Day and attendance of two countries presidents. The second phase of this project will formally get to operation on Wednesday 10st of September 2014 with the presence of senior officials of the two countries.
Sangtuda 2 Dam and Hydro Power plant is located in 180 km southeast of the Dushanbe city, Khalton province. Sangtuda 2 Dam is an earth fill dam with clay core, with the crest length of 305 m and crest width of 12 m. This dam with the reservoir capacity of 66,500 MCM is 31 meters high.
The type of the Sangtuda 2 Hydro Power plant is run-of-river, consisting of two units each 110 Mw (totally 220 Mw) which annually generates 1 GWh electricity.

Upper Gotvand hydro power plant is located in Khozestan province 25 km of Shoshtar from the north near Gotvand town.

Shirkoh Combined Cycle Power Plant was inaugurated on 16 Feb 2013 in presence of the Honorable President and Minister of Energy. This power plant with the capacity of around 500 MW, is Farab’s first power plant on Build, Own, Operate (BOO) basis. Its two gas units have been commissioned and the steam unit of this power plant is scheduled to finish by 1392.

Visit of the first circulation operation of the first unit of the power plant by the Presidents of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Tajikistan
Today morning, "Mahmoud Ahmadinejad" and "Imam Ali Rahman", the Presidents of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Tajikistan, respectively, accompanied with the top boards of both countries, attended the site of "Sangtoodeh 2" Power Plant in Vakhsh Region, located 120 km southern to Dushanbe, in pilot inauguration of the first phase of this power plant.
President of Iran pointed out that Iranian companies and experts constructed Sangtoodeh 2 Power Plant from the depth of about 40 m in Vakhsh River by using the most modern technical equipment, and this experience would be used for realization of the project of "Eini" Power Plant on "Zarafshan" River in north of Tajikistan.
Ahmadinejad stressed: such power plants as Sangtoodeh 2 and Eini that are constructed through contribution of Iran in Tajikistan do not reserve a lot of water behind their dam lake and their only application is power generation, so there will be no problem in supplying the water required for various agricultural and industrial sectors in the region.
Sangtoodeh 2 Power Plant is one of the joint projects of both countries in energy sector by investing more than USD 180 million by Iran and USD 40 million by Tajikistan, which is executed by Iranian companies and experts, being in final phases of installation of equipment.
Based on the planning, after full operation of the first and second phases of this power plant, 220 MW power generated by this important project will enter Power Distribution System of Tajikistan.
Iranian and Tajik experts make the equipment of Sangtoodeh 2 Power Plant ready for operation
By nearing the date of official operation of the first phase of Sangtoodeh 2 Power Plant, Iranian and Tajik experts will test the equipment installed in this power plant in the late August in presence of the Presidents of Iran, Tajikistan and Afghanistan. Now, all equipment and devices of the first turbine of the power plant is ready for operation and the power plant is to be operated on test basis before official operation by the Presidents of three Persian speaking countries.
The first turbine of the power plant has the capacity to generate 110 MW, which will supply the power required for Khatlon Province of Tajikistan.
The operations for construction of Sangtoodeh 2 Dam and 220 MW Power Plant was started by Farab Company, which established "Sangab" Joint Venture in Tajikistan, in February 2007 on "Vakhsh" River in Khatlon Province.
Being located 120 km southeastern to Dushanbe, Sangtoodeh 2 Power Plant will generate 930 million KWh per year.
Finalization of the contract for construction of "Eini" Big Hydroelectric Power Plant on Zarafshan River is among the objectives and plans of travel of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran to this country. In this journey, the document of construction of Eini Power Plant will also be executed in presence of the Presidents of both countries.
Currently, feasibility and study works of "Eini" Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant on Zarafshan River were started by the experts of "Farab" Company and all works of surveying the dam and its catchment area are almost completed.
Preliminary memorandum of understanding for construction of "Eini" Dam and Power Plant, which is to be constructed on Zarafshan River located 200 km northern to Dushanbe, was exchanged by and among Farab Company, Tajik Electricity Company and Ministry of Energy of Tajikistan in January 2010.
